Davante Adams Leaves Game with Oblique Injury During Rams” Victory

SANTA CLARA — In a commanding 42-26 victory over the San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Davante Adams exited the game in the fourth quarter due to an oblique injury. Head coach Sean McVay indicated that the experienced receiver likely could have returned if the game situation had been different.

“He got his oblique. I think he could have been able to come back in if it was a little bit closer,” McVay stated following the game.

Adams encountered trouble while running a route, stopping to reach for his lower back on the left side of his torso. After leaving the field, he engaged in conversation with Reggie Scott, the team”s VP of sports performance. He even attempted to rejoin the coaching staff, signaling his readiness to return. However, Scott intervened, leading Adams to the blue injury tent.

“It was biting a little bit in the game, but it”s feeling better now,” Adams remarked. “And we”ll see how it feels next week.”

Despite his early departure, Adams had a significant impact on the game, leading his team with eight targets and six receptions for 77 yards, along with his sixth touchdown in three games. On that touchdown, Adams executed a scissor route with teammate Puka Nacua, lining up in the slot before breaking to the outside. Quarterback Matthew Stafford delivered a perfectly placed throw that allowed Adams to make the catch without interference from safety Malik Mustapha.

McVay praised Adams” contribution, saying, “You really felt his presence early and often in the game.”
