Jacksonville Jaguars rookie wide receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter will be sidelined for the rest of the season following surgery on his right knee. The procedure, which took place on Tuesday in Dallas, was aimed at repairing the LCL ligament. Fortunately, the team reported that no further damage was discovered beyond the LCL.
Hunter, who was placed on injured reserve after sustaining a non-contact injury during defensive drills on October 30, is projected to return to full football activities within six months. Throughout the season, he made a notable impact with 28 receptions for 298 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, he recorded 15 tackles and three pass breakups.
In the games he participated in, Hunter was involved in 67% of the team”s offensive snaps and 36% of the defensive snaps. His performance was pivotal as he was emerging as the team”s primary wide receiver, in part due to his exceptional skills and playmaking ability, as well as the struggles of teammate Brian Thomas Jr..
The Jaguars, currently holding a 5-4 record, will look to bounce back after a disappointing loss to Houston, where they squandered a 19-point lead in the fourth quarter. They are set to host the Los Angeles Chargers this upcoming Sunday.
