The Minnesota Vikings are gearing up to face the Chicago Bears in a critical divisional matchup, with both teams looking to improve their standings. The Vikings, currently struggling with a losing record, hope to find momentum against their rivals, who have recently shown signs of playoff potential under first-year head coach Ben Johnson.
During a recent press conference, Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores shared his thoughts on Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, acknowledging the significant progress he has made this season. Despite facing heavy criticism early in the year, Williams has demonstrated improvement in his mechanics and overall command of the offense.
Flores noted, “I think you can see major improvements, just from mechanics, command of the offense. He”s still one of the most elusive quarterbacks, possessing big-time mobility and arm strength, capable of making throws from various angles.” He also praised Williams for his ability to perform under pressure, stating, “He looks like he thrives in the big moments when he”s under pressure to lead his team.” Flores emphasized that the Vikings must be at their best during those critical moments, as he expects Williams to be at his peak performance as well.
In their earlier encounter this season, Williams completed 21 of 35 passes for 210 yards and a touchdown, in addition to a rushing touchdown. The Bears started strong, scoring a touchdown on their opening drive, but the Vikings rallied, scoring 28 points in the fourth quarter to secure the victory.
As the Vikings prepare for this upcoming game, they hold a record of 4-5 in the division and are looking to improve their standing against the Bears, who are currently in a competitive playoff chase. A win could provide the Vikings with the momentum they need to start a winning streak, which could be crucial as they eye a potential Wild Card spot in the playoffs.
