C.J. Stroud to Sit Out Again as Texans Face Titans This Sunday

HOUSTON — The Houston Texans will be without quarterback C.J. Stroud for the second week in a row as he continues to recover from a concussion. Stroud is set to miss the Texans” matchup against the Tennessee Titans this Sunday.

In his absence, Davis Mills will take the starting role for the second consecutive game. Last week, Mills impressed by throwing two touchdown passes and scoring the decisive touchdown himself, leading the Texans to a comeback victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars after trailing by 19 points in the fourth quarter.

Stroud sustained his concussion early in the second quarter of a loss to the Denver Broncos on November 2. He was hit on the shoulder while sliding after a 6-yard scramble, causing his head to bounce off the ground.

The Texans will also be missing safety Jalen Pitre, who is sidelined for a second game due to another concussion sustained against the Broncos. Additionally, kicker Ka”imi Fairbairn will not play this week as he continues to recover from a quadriceps injury.

This marks the second concussion for Stroud since he entered the NFL in 2023, with the first occurring in December against the New York Jets. Mills, now in his fifth season with the Texans, previously started 26 games in his first two seasons and returned to the starting lineup for the first time since 2022 last week.
