Arbor View defeats Liberty to secure a spot in the Open Division final

Arbor View showcased a dominant performance against Liberty, securing a 41-28 victory in the Class 5A Open Division state semifinals on Friday night. The Aggies” standout player, junior Kamareion Bell, was instrumental in the win, contributing two touchdowns and an interception.

Despite playing alongside a star quarterback and several talented receivers, Bell”s skills were on full display. He rushed for one touchdown, caught another, and intercepted a pass, leading the Aggies to an impressive road victory. “He is a big-name recruit that hasn”t been on the big-name list yet,” said Arbor View head coach Sam Norris. “These coaches better understand that this dude is one of the most relentless, most gritty kids that I”ve coached. He”s a team guy. He”ll do whatever we ask him to do.”

The Aggies, now boasting a 9-2 record, will face Bishop Gorman in the Open Division title game on November 25 at Allegiant Stadium. The Gaels advanced by defeating Foothill with a score of 43-6. In the semifinal match, Bell rushed for 124 yards on 12 carries, and his 12-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter broke a 21-21 tie. He also added three receptions for 40 yards, including a touchdown catch on the first drive of the game.

Selby Griego attempted a pass to running back Kaden Cadang on a critical third down, but the pass was deemed a lateral. Darion Merriweather picked up the loose ball and returned it 41 yards for a touchdown, extending the lead to 34-21 with just under two minutes left in the third quarter.

Junior quarterback Thaddeus Thatcher completed 13 of 28 passes for 181 yards and three touchdowns, showcasing his ability to lead the offense effectively. He connected on a 20-yard touchdown to Zac Fares and a 7-yard touchdown pass to Jayden Williams. Thatcher added 54 rushing yards on nine carries, but it was the defense that truly made the difference in this matchup.
