BLACKSVILLE – Sophomore running back Caleb Hall of Clay-Battelle has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing 1,000 rushing yards during the opening round of the Class A playoffs. This accomplishment came during a dominant 44-8 victory over the No. 14 seed, Ritchie County, last weekend.
Hall carried the ball 22 times, accumulating 165 yards and scoring a touchdown, bringing his season total to 1,086 rushing yards. He is the first player from Clay-Battelle to reach this milestone since Carson Shriver and Zac Hall did so in 2022.
“My main goal this season was to simply win games and host a playoff game,” Hall stated. “Coming into the season, I wasn”t thinking about my individual stats at all whatsoever. I just wanted to help my team get as many wins as possible.”
With a commendable 10-1 record, the Cee-Bees are preparing to continue their playoff journey as they are set to host their second consecutive postseason game on Saturday evening against No. 11 Wirt County.
At such a young age, Hall continues to develop physically, which he credits as a crucial factor in his success this season. “The weight room has definitely made a difference for me,” he explained. “It seems like every year the competition gets tougher and guys are getting bigger. I want to make sure I”m ready to face anyone and run as hard as I can.”
This season has already proven to be transformative for the Cee-Bees, and Hall believes that it still has the potential to be even more remarkable. “At the end of the day, you win as a team and you lose as a team,” he said. “Working together is crucial when it comes to success in team sports.”
Hall emphasized the importance of teamwork, noting, “No matter who has the ball, our line and receivers work so hard for us. We wouldn”t be where we are right now without the willingness of others to sacrifice for their brothers. As long as we stick together, I truly feel we can do anything and win against anyone.”
