The Kansas City Chiefs have received an important update regarding rookie offensive tackle Josh Simmons, who recently missed four games due to an undisclosed personal issue. The team had been grappling with challenges on the blindside for several seasons, making Simmons” acquisition from Ohio State a significant move. However, his absence left the Chiefs in a difficult position.
Now, after a week back with the team, Simmons has reassured fans that he is here to stay for the remainder of the season. In a statement, he said, “I will be here for the rest of the season for the Kansas City Chiefs. I just want to keep it in-house, all due respect. That”s just something I want to keep inside.”
During his time away, Simmons expressed gratitude for the support he received from fans and the organization. “I want to thank the entirety of Kansas City, and this club, for having my six during the time I was away from the team,” he added. “It showed how much love this team and city has for me, and I can”t wait to give it back to them.”
Simmons returned to the lineup during the bye week and started in the recent loss against the Denver Broncos. As a former first-round draft pick, he has quickly become a key player in protecting Patrick Mahomes, having recorded a Pro Football Focus pass block grade of 72.6, placing him 27th among 76 eligible tackles. His ability to keep Mahomes safe is crucial as the team navigates a challenging season with a current record of 5-5 and a two-game losing streak.
With Simmons back in the fold, the Chiefs are hopeful that his presence will help stabilize their offensive line and improve their chances as they move forward in the season.
