The Penn State football team delivered an impressive performance on Saturday night, defeating Nebraska 37-10 at Beaver Stadium.
Quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer showcased his progression by completing 11 of 12 passes for 181 yards and one touchdown, earning an A grade for his efforts.
The running backs also shone, as Kaytron Allen rushed for a career-high 160 yards and scored two touchdowns. Nick Singleton contributed significantly with 95 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns, making it a record night for the duo.
The receiving corps secured an A grade as well, with five different receivers catching passes of at least 20 yards. Tight end Andre Rappleyea celebrated his first touchdown reception of the season.
The offensive line received high marks for their improved blocking, which was even better than in the previous game against Michigan State. The Nittany Lions amassed a total of 412 yards, averaging nearly six yards per carry.
On the defensive line, the trio of Dani Dennis-Sutton, Zane Durant, and Yvan Kemajou were instrumental in securing all three sacks, limiting Nebraska to just 79 rushing yards after a 52-yard gain early in the game. They earned a B grade for their performance.
The linebackers, led by Dominic DeLuca, Amare Campbell, and Alex Tatsch, combined for 21 tackles, with Campbell making a critical fourth-down stop near the goal line, justifying their B grade.
The secondary also received a B grade, effectively containing Nebraska”s receivers until the Nittany Lions established a significant lead, allowing just 5.3 yards per passing attempt.
Special teams were given a C grade; kicker Ryan Barker improved his field-goal percentage to 13 of 14 but missed his first extra point attempt. The kickoff coverage did not meet expectations.
The coaching staff earned an A, as Penn State has developed a clear identity over the past three games, focusing on a strong ground game and effective quarterback pressure, highlighted by a successful fake punt in this matchup.
