CeeDee Lamb, the wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys, has been open about his struggles with dropped passes this season, noting that he has dropped a career-high eight balls. After dropping three passes, including a likely touchdown, in the recent victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, Lamb stressed the need for improvement, stating, “It”s all on me, and I got to handle that.”
Reflecting on his performance, Lamb said, “You just find ways to get better. You want to be solution-oriented and not really much to dwell on the problem. Granted, we know the problem, I need to catch the f—ing ball. Other than that, man, we”ll be fine. When I do catch it, be ready.” According to ESPN Research, Lamb”s eight drops are the highest by a Cowboys player in a single season since Dez Bryant had nine in 2012, with six of those drops occurring against the Eagles.
After his initial drops against the Eagles, Lamb was back at The Star the following day, working on his catching technique with the Jugs machine. He bounced back in Week 2, recording nine receptions for 112 yards in a victory against the New York Giants.
Quarterback Dak Prescott is confident that Lamb will rise to the occasion in the upcoming game against the Kansas City Chiefs, stating, “Just go back and look at the career, right. Any game that maybe he”s not done to his standard or had a drop there or been a frustrating game, the way he”s responded has been unquestionable.” Prescott added that he expects a “huge game” from Lamb.
Coach Brian Schottenheimer also expressed his faith in Lamb, promising him ample opportunities in the game against the Chiefs. He remarked, “He loves the bright lights. He”s an incredible football player, and he”s got that look in his eye that means business.” Schottenheimer hinted at the strategy, saying, “I think I let the cat out of the bag a little, but there will be plenty of balls going to 88 on Thursday afternoon.”
Despite missing three games this season due to a high ankle sprain, Lamb has made 44 receptions for 632 yards and two touchdowns over the course of eight games. He feels ready to overcome his challenges, stating, “It”s not really anybody in my way. I”m the only one guarding myself, I feel like. We are going to fix that.”
