Bucky Irving Credits Faith and Teammates for Overcoming Injury Struggles

TAMPA — Bucky Irving, the running back for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, faced significant emotional challenges during his recovery from injuries sustained in the September 28 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. After missing seven games due to foot and shoulder issues, he is optimistic about potentially returning to the field this Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals.

Irving revealed that his first experience with injuries in his football career has been difficult, especially dealing with the isolation that comes from being sidelined. However, he emphasized that his faith and the support from his teammates have been crucial in helping him navigate this tough period. “I want to give all glory to God, man. Without him, I wouldn”t be in this position,” Irving stated. “I give glory to him, man, each and every day, because where I”m from not a lot of people get this opportunity.”

Reflecting on his absence, Irving shared, “It”s tough, man, your first time being hurt. I love what I do every day, I love my teammates, and when I go out there I play and I show them each and every time that I get the ball I”m trying to make plays and make things happen for this organization and this team.”

The Buccaneers struggled during Irving”s time off, recording a 3-4 record, which included three consecutive losses. “It”s always tough not being able to be out there and going to war with your guys,” he remarked. “But just being out there to go through that and learn from that and being able to move on, I”m happy to be back with my guys.”

Irving acknowledged the support he received from the entire Buccaneers organization, saying, “I can”t name everybody, but the people who were with me every step of the way know who they are. I want to give them big praise and a shout out for helping me throughout this process.” He expressed gratitude for the trust he has in his teammates and their collective effort to overcome challenges together.

Fortunately for the Buccaneers, they have a deep running back corps, including Rachaad White and Sean Tucker. “Everyone in that room is a great back, and I don”t look at it as I”m the starter,” Irving noted. “Rachaad is a starter, and Sean Tucker is a starter. We play for one another, and I”m trying to bring that to this room and show whoever is in the game they can be a lead back.”

Irving”s focus on teamwork and mutual support reflects his dedication to the game and his commitment to helping the Buccaneers succeed on the field.
