Jets Coach Aaron Glenn Comments on Arian Smith”s Inactive Status Against Falcons

In a surprising turn of events, Arian Smith, a rookie wide receiver for the New York Jets, was a notable absence from the active roster in the team”s recent victory over the Atlanta Falcons. Smith, who was selected in the fourth round of the draft, had participated in all 11 games prior and had even started five of them.

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn remained tight-lipped regarding the reason for Smith”s inactivity, suggesting it was likely a disciplinary matter. “With Arian, him not being active, that”ll be something that me and him will keep between us, just like I always do when things like that happen,” Glenn stated. “You guys know I don”t really speak on those things and the players know that we”re going to keep that between ourselves. But I”ve said it before and I”m going to continue to say it, he”s a huge part of what we”re doing, and listen, we talked about, we”re going to move forward and get ready for him to play the rest of the season.”

As a rookie, Smith has had limited contributions on the field, recording just six receptions for 47 yards. His role in the offense has diminished, particularly after the team acquired wide receivers John Metchie III and Adonai Mitchell.

Meanwhile, Justin Fields, the Jets” quarterback, had expressed some reservations about potentially being used in a gadget role, particularly with wildcat plays. He highlighted concerns regarding the risk of soft tissue injuries when entering the game without prior preparation. When asked about Fields” involvement in such plays, Glenn noted, “Listen, Justin is a huge part of what we”re doing. I mean, if Tyrod Taylor goes down, he”s going to be the guy, you know, and he knows that, so anything that we do with him as far as game prep, listen we keep those things inside within what we”re doing. So, and he understands that, and listen, he”s a team guy, I will tell you that. And I hope that answers your question, he”s the ultimate team guy and whatever he can do to help the team he will.”

Additionally, Glenn reported that the only injury sustained during the game was to safety Tony Adams, who is currently dealing with a groin issue.
