Michigan Wolverines Add Fuel to Kalen DeBoer Coaching Rumors

The coaching vacancy at the Michigan Wolverines has sparked renewed speculation regarding Kalen DeBoer, the head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide, as a potential candidate for the position. Despite persistent rumors, DeBoer has publicly stated his commitment to Alabama, emphasizing, “Haven”t talked with anyone, no plans of talking with anyone.”

His remarks were intended to quell any speculation linking him to Michigan; however, fresh insights from a college football insider suggest that the possibility of DeBoer moving to Michigan is not entirely off the table. During a recent episode of the “Bear Bets” podcast, Bruce Feldman, a reporter for Fox Sports, commented on the situation. He noted, “What I”ve heard is that does like it at Alabama and I know the AD (athletic director Greg Byrne) really likes him and the leadership likes him and thinks he”s the guy they want to lead the program.” Yet, Feldman also pointed out, “But if they lose, man, I wonder if that changes the calculus for a lot of people — including DeBoer.”

Feldman”s insight indicates that the interest from Michigan for DeBoer is quite serious. He acknowledged DeBoer”s reputation as an exceptional offensive coach, especially in light of Michigan”s struggles on offense in recent seasons. “They have been dreadful on offense. They were horrible last year and weren”t that much better this year. I think that”s something they”ll look at,” Feldman added.

While it is clear that Michigan has its sights set on DeBoer, convincing him to leave Alabama could prove challenging. A potential loss against the Oklahoma Sooners in the opening round of the College Football Playoff could amplify the speculation surrounding his future. DeBoer is currently in his second year as head coach at Alabama, and while anything is possible, it would be surprising to see him transition to Michigan in the near future.
