Chase Academy Triumphs Over Kingston College in Thrilling Match

Chase Academy continued their unbeaten streak in the KFC International Secondary School Football Championship by defeating Kingston College 3-2, overcoming an early deficit and playing with ten men. The match took place yesterday at the Ministry of Education (MOE) Ground on Carifesta Avenue.

The defending champions faced an uphill battle right from the start. Just ten minutes into the game, Bryan Wharton received a red card for using abusive language towards the referee, leaving Chase Academy a player short. The situation worsened for the Guyanese side in the 16th minute when Kingston College converted a penalty, with Shaquan Elliot scoring the first goal of the match.

As the first half concluded, the score remained 1-0 in favor of the Jamaicans. However, after the break, Kingston College extended their lead in the 57th minute when Riley Kevwaroo found the net, placing the ball past the Chase Academy goalkeeper from inside the penalty area.

Chase Academy”s comeback began shortly after, in the 60th minute, when Shaquan David scored, capitalizing on a goalkeeper error. His strike from outside the penalty area slipped through the goalkeeper”s fingers, rolling over the line despite the custodian”s desperate attempt to recover.

The momentum shifted in favor of Chase Academy as they continued to press. Their resilience was rewarded again when they equalized shortly after. The final goal came in the closing moments of the match, sealing a remarkable turnaround for the defending champions, who now maintain their perfect record in the tournament.
