Puka Nacua Criticizes NFL Refs Following Rams” Overtime Loss to Seahawks

Puka Nacua, the wide receiver for the Los Angeles Rams, has intensified his criticism of NFL referees just two days after labeling them as “the worst.” This outburst followed the Rams” narrow 38-37 overtime defeat against the Seattle Seahawks on “Thursday Night Football.” The game took place on December 18, 2025, at Lumen Field.

In a post on his X page that has since been deleted, Nacua expressed his sentiments with a sarcastic tone, stating, “Can you say I was wrong? Appreciate you stripes for your contribution. Lol.” His remarks came after a game filled with controversial officiating decisions that left many players and fans questioning the calls made by the officials.

One key moment occurred late in the fourth quarter after a touchdown by AJ Barner. Quarterback Sam Darnold”s attempt at a bubble screen was ruled incomplete but later changed to a backward pass upon review. This ruling allowed Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet to recover the ball in the end zone, resulting in a two-point conversion that tied the game at 30-30. While the call seemed justified upon review, Rams head coach Sean McVay sought further clarification during his postgame press conference.

Earlier in the game, another critical play saw a Rams touchdown nullified due to an ineligible man downfield penalty. This decision was highlighted by “TNF” rules analyst Terry McAulay, who remarked that the call “really isn”t a foul.” Instead of a touchdown, the Rams were forced to settle for a field goal.

In a live stream, Nacua did not hold back his frustrations. He claimed, “The refs are the worst. These guys are lawyers. They want to be on TV too, bro. You don”t think he”s texting his friends in the group chat like, “Yo, you guys just saw me on “Sunday Night Football.” Like, that wasn”t , but I called it.””

The loss for the Rams brought their record to 11-4, positioning them second in the NFC West, just behind the Seahawks, who improved to 12-3 and secured a playoff spot with this victory.
