Seahawks Linebacker Derick Hall Suspended for One Game Due to Unsportsmanlike Conduct

The Seattle Seahawks have announced that linebacker Derick Hall will be suspended for one game following a violation of sportsmanship principles during a recent game against the Los Angeles Rams.

The suspension stems from an incident in the first quarter where Hall allegedly stepped on the leg of Rams guard Kevin Dotson after a play had concluded, while Dotson was on the ground. The league cited Hall for violating Rule 12, Section 2, Article 8, which concerns unnecessary roughness, as well as Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1, related to unsportsmanlike conduct.

Although Hall was not penalized during the game, the NFL took action after reviewing the incident. Dotson left the game with 1:54 remaining in the first quarter and was examined for an ankle injury on the sidelines.

Hall has the option to appeal the suspension. A hearing officer, appointed by the NFL and the NFL Players Association, will review the case and determine whether to uphold or reduce the penalty. If the suspension is not overturned, Hall will miss the Seahawks” upcoming game against the Carolina Panthers on December 28 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.

This marks Hall”s third season with the Seahawks after being selected in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft. In the previous season, he started 14 games, participated in 60 percent of the defensive snaps, and recorded eight sacks. This year, he has started three games, played 46 percent of the defensive snaps, and has one sack to his name.

The 2025 season is significant for Hall as he continues to develop in his professional career, and the suspension may impact his contributions to the team”s defense as they approach the regular-season finale against the San Francisco 49ers on January 4.
