Quinnen Williams Joins Cowboys Following Major Trade Before Deadline

Quinnen Williams has officially been traded to the Dallas Cowboys, just hours before the NFL trade deadline. This acquisition comes as a significant boost for the Cowboys, who have been in dire need of defensive reinforcements.

The Cowboys are known for having one of the league”s most potent offenses; however, their defense has faced serious challenges this season. Currently, they rank among the bottom in the league for points allowed per game. The situation has been exacerbated by the recent departure of a top pass rusher, leaving the team with only 20 sacks thus far, a stark contrast to the league-leading 40 sacks recorded by other teams.

In the trade, the Cowboys acquired Williams from the New York Jets, along with a second-round pick in the 2026 NFL draft, and a first-round pick in 2027. Williams expressed his emotions on social media following the confirmation of the trade, sharing a heartfelt farewell to his former team and its fans.

The defensive tackle, a seven-year veteran, acknowledged his time in New York and expressed excitement about his new chapter in Dallas. Having been drafted third overall in 2019, Williams has compiled an impressive career with 322 total tackles, 199 solo tackles, and 40 sacks over six and a half seasons. This season, he has continued to showcase his skills on the field.

As the Cowboys move forward, all eyes will be on how Williams fits into the team”s defensive scheme under the guidance of their defensive coordinator. The front office, led by owner Jerry Jones, is optimistic that Williams” presence will invigorate their struggling defense and provide essential support for quarterback Dak Prescott as they aim for a playoff push.
