Bijan Robinson delivered a standout performance, accumulating a career-high 195 rushing yards on 22 attempts, along with 34 receiving yards on five catches, leading the Atlanta Falcons to a 27-24 win against the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
In this thrilling matchup, Robinson not only showcased his skills but also set multiple records. His rushing total included a remarkable 93-yard touchdown run, which established a franchise record for the longest touchdown run in history, surpassing the previous mark set by Warrick Dunn in 2006.
With his performance, Robinson accrued a total of 229 yards from scrimmage, making him the single-season leader for the Falcons with 2,255 yards, breaking the previous record held by William Andrews since 1983. This figure ranks as the third highest in the NFL over the past decade, following Christian McCaffrey in 2019 and Saquon Barkley in 2024, according to ESPN Research.
Moreover, Robinson became the youngest player in NFL history to reach 5,585 yards from scrimmage, surpassing legendary players Christian McCaffrey and Barry Sanders.
“I said this 18 weeks ago: He”s the best player in football,” said Falcons coach Raheem Morris. “I mean, it”s just as simple as that. He”s unbelievable. Everything he does for our football team, from running the football to catching the football, to protection, to being a leader. He”s also our chaplain. He does it all.”
Robinson”s achievements did not stop there. His 93-yard rushing touchdown placed him among just two players in history with multiple scrimmage touchdowns of 80 or more yards on “Monday Night Football” within a single season.
Additionally, Robinson”s 190 scrimmage yards gained after contact marked the highest recorded by any player in a single game since 2009, when ESPN began tracking this statistic. He also joined the ranks of Jerry Rice as the only players to achieve consecutive games with over 200 scrimmage yards in Monday Night Football appearances.
“He”s a special player,” said Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins. “… What he can do in both the run game and pass game is very unique. He”s a great teammate. He”s a great person. Bodes well for his future. And I think the key is we”ve got to use him correctly and not overwork him because I think tonight we asked a lot of him, and I want to make sure that he”s fresh for what he”s got ahead of him. But if you call his number, he”s going to answer. He”s not going to complain or tell you he”s tired.”
Despite being mathematically eliminated from playoff contention for nearly a month, the Falcons (7-9) have rallied for three consecutive victories and four wins out of their last five games. Robinson emphasized the importance of finishing the season strong.
“We made it known as soon as we got that elimination that we”re going to finish this season off the right way, finish it all strong so we can lead into next season because we”re all men,” Robinson stated. “We”re all men that love this game so much. So, it”s very important for us to finish the right way as a team. And it feels good knowing that, yeah, obviously we”re not going to the playoffs, but we did something good at the end of the season.”
