Raiders Raise Over $16,000 on Super Hero Night for Local Charities

The Prince Albert Raiders delivered a much-needed victory to the community on Monday night, triumphing 8-0 against the Swift Current Broncos. The game was more than just a win; it also featured significant fundraising efforts that raised over $16,000 for local charities.

As part of a league initiative in collaboration with Re/Max, the Raiders wore special Super Hero themed jerseys that were auctioned off to benefit the Children”s Miracle Network and the Jim Pattison Children”s Hospital. In addition, the team organized a rapid fundraising drive for the Salvation Army in Prince Albert, collecting clothing donations and contributing a quarter of the evening”s 50/50 draw from the Raiders” share.

In total, the Raiders filled an entire bus with warm clothing and made an $8,587 donation to the Salvation Army. According to Business Manager Mike Scissons, the jersey auction raised a similar amount, with over $8,500 also earmarked for the Children”s Miracle Network, which subsequently supports the Jim Pattison Children”s Hospital. Scissons remarked, “We were happy to participate in a very unique way. It was a fun night overall for our guys to participate in, and the big win helps a whole lot, but once again our fans stepped up and made donations to a worthy cause.”

The organization quickly mobilized to set up the Salvation Army fundraiser. Scissons explained, “It was an idea that came after the devastating fire, and you know what we could do is probably have the most people attend an event shortly thereafter. Things moved pretty quickly, but we want to thank the City of PA for bringing a PA Transit bus to our game in order for us to allow our fans to fill it, and they did exactly that. I know all those items will go to good use by those in need over these winter months. It”s been terribly cold, and so getting those items in those people”s hands is important.”

Scissons expressed pride in the Raiders” ability to positively impact the community during difficult times. With around 2,800 fans attending the game—many for the first time since Christmas and the last time in 2025—the initiative to combine the two fundraisers resonated deeply. “You look for the positives no matter where you go after something like that happens and devastates everybody in the community and rocks it a little bit. The guys came together, were playing some great hockey, and to see so many fans show up last night and support our guys was a good thing to feel all around even for us.”

The Raiders are set to face off against the Regina Pats in their next game on Friday.
