A pair of teams from the area, Corrigan-Camden and Groveton, have successfully secured their spots in the playoffs, while Diboll, Alto, and Apple Springs each have the opportunity to join them as the regular season comes to a close.
Corrigan-Camden holds a record of 5-4 overall and 3-1 in District 12-2A Division I, positioning them in second place. Quarterback Will Ratliff contributed significantly with 130 passing yards and 102 rushing yards, scoring once on the ground. Derrick Reagie added to the effort with 122 rushing yards and a touchdown, while Tahj Thomas recorded five catches for 57 yards.
Groveton, with a 3-6 record and 2-2 in district play, clinched fourth place after a 33-18 victory over Hearne last week. The Indians will now travel to face district-leading Jewett Leon, who remains undefeated at 9-0 and is 4-0 in district competition. In their previous match, Trystin Ard shone for Groveton, accumulating 89 rushing yards and two touchdowns, while Ty Torregrossa added 84 passing yards and a touchdown.
In District 11-2A Division II, Alto currently sits at 4-5 overall and 2-3 in district play, tied for fourth place with Overton. Diboll, standing at 3-6 and 2-2 in District 9-3A Division I, enters the final week tied for second place alongside Palestine Westwood, Crockett, and Teague. The Lumberjacks will host Teague, who recently triumphed over Huntington with a score of 50-0. In their last match, Diboll secured a crucial district win against Crockett, finishing 27-20, thanks to a game-winning 8-yard run from Tyrece McMillan with just under two minutes remaining.
Apple Springs heads into their game against Burkeville with a record of 4-4 overall and 0-1 in district play. A victory would elevate the Eagles to second place, securing a playoff spot. Apple Springs had a week off last week following a heavy loss of 66-0 to Chester two weeks prior. Meanwhile, Burkeville comes off a challenging 59-0 loss to Chester.
In another matchup, Palestine Westwood (7-2, 2-2) will visit Huntington (1-8, 0-4). Huntington is attempting to bounce back after their recent defeat to Teague. Palestine Westwood seeks to end their current losing streak, having lost their last two games.
