Alabama Football Secures Transfer of Offensive Tackle Ty Haywood from Michigan

Alabama football has successfully acquired offensive tackle Ty Haywood from the transfer portal, marking a significant addition to their roster. Haywood, who is 6-foot-5 and weighs 316 pounds, previously played for Michigan before making his return to the Crimson Tide.

Originally, Haywood committed to Alabama as a high school recruit, but he later shifted to Michigan, where he spent his freshman year during the 2025 season. He participated in three games, contributing a total of 15 snaps against teams like Central Michigan, Maryland, and Texas. Rated as a four-star recruit in the 2025 class, he was ranked as the No. 39 player overall and the No. 6 offensive tackle by 247Sports.

Haywood”s journey included a commitment to Alabama on July 14, 2024, but he decommitted on January 13, 2025, before opting to join the Wolverines on February 5, 2025. Now, with his transfer back to Alabama, he joins a team that is actively working to rebuild its offensive line.

In a notable transition, Alabama is facing the departure of six out of seven offensive linemen who started in 2025. Key players, including Kadyn Proctor and Parker Brailsford, have moved on to the professional level, while Wilkin Formby has entered the transfer portal. Additionally, Jaeden Roberts, Geno VanDeMark, and Kam Dewberry have exhausted their eligibility, further necessitating the need for new talent in the offensive line.

In addition to Haywood, Alabama has seen several reserves, including Olaus Alinen, Joseph Ionata, Roq Montgomery, Micah DeBose, and Arkel Anugwom, also decide to enter the transfer portal. The team is now focused on integrating new recruits like Haywood to strengthen its offensive front moving forward.
