Tennessee Volunteers Defensive Back Kaleb Beasley Enters Transfer Portal

The Tennessee Volunteers have experienced a setback as defensive back Kaleb Beasley has decided to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal. This decision comes just days before the final entry date of January 16th, a period during which the Volunteers were hoping to retain their roster intact.

Beasley, a cornerback/safety who joined the Volunteers from Lipscomb Academy, spent two seasons with the team. Despite being recognized as one of the top defensive backs upon his recruitment, he struggled to secure a starting position and played primarily as a rotational player for the Orange and White.

During his time at Tennessee, Beasley showcased his versatility and potential. He transformed his physique following his freshman year and was expected to compete for significant playing time in the 2025 season. In his freshman year, he played a prominent role on special teams, participating in all 13 games and recording four tackles.

Over his career with the Volunteers, Beasley accumulated a total of 26 tackles, along with two pass breakups and a fumble recovery that he returned for a touchdown. He participated in 25 games throughout his tenure, demonstrating his capability to contribute defensively.

His performance included notable games such as playing 55 snaps at safety against New Mexico State, where he registered one tackle and one pass breakup. He also had three tackles in a crucial matchup against No. 12 Vanderbilt and managed to record a career-high four tackles, including a touchdown return on a fumble recovery against UAB.

As the Volunteers continue to navigate this offseason, the loss of Beasley adds to their challenges as they look to fill gaps in their lineup. The team is actively pursuing new talent to bolster their defensive unit.
