Deion Sanders Responds to Loss of Star Receiver Omarion Miller to Transfer Portal

The Colorado Buffaloes experienced a significant setback this offseason with the departure of wide receiver Omarion Miller to the transfer portal. Miller, who has now joined the Arizona State Sun Devils, was anticipated to be the Buffs” primary target in 2025. In response to this loss, head coach Deion Sanders took swift action to reshape the wide receiver corps.

To address the void left by Miller, Colorado has welcomed four new wide receivers through the transfer portal for the upcoming 2026 season. The additions of DeAndre Moore Jr., Ernest Campbell, Danny Scudero, and Kam Perry are aimed at strengthening the team”s aerial attack. Collectively, these four players accumulated 206 receptions, 3,554 receiving yards, and 28 touchdowns during the 2025 season, providing the Buffaloes with substantial firepower.

DeAndre Moore Jr. joins Colorado after spending three seasons with the Texas Longhorns. He is recognized as a four-star transfer and ranks as the fifth-best wide receiver transfer in the 2026 class according to 247Sports. Ernest Campbell had a productive freshman year with the Sacramento State Hornets, recording 37 catches for 755 yards and eight touchdowns before following his former coach, Brennan Marion, to Boulder.

Danny Scudero brings valuable experience to the team, having played for the San Jose State Spartans in 2025. He led the nation in receiving yards that season, amassing 1,291 yards on 88 catches and scoring ten touchdowns. Meanwhile, Kam Perry is making yet another move, transferring to Colorado after stints with the Indiana Hoosiers and the Miami Redhawks. Perry”s 2025 campaign was his best, with 976 yards and six touchdowns.

The loss of Miller is particularly impactful as he was a standout player for the Buffaloes, leading the team in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns during the previous season. Miller recorded 45 receptions for 808 yards and eight touchdowns before his transfer to Arizona State, marking a notable loss for “Coach Prime.” His status as a four-star transfer and the third-best wide receiver in the 2026 class underscores the significance of his departure.

With the addition of Moore, Campbell, Scudero, and Perry, Colorado aims to find a new number one receiver to support quarterback Julian Lewis as they prepare for the upcoming season.
