The Philadelphia Eagles” general manager, Howie Roseman, recently made a statement regarding the future of wide receiver A.J. Brown amid speculation about potential trades. Following the Eagles” narrow 23-19 defeat to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC wild-card game, Brown faced scrutiny for his performance, which included three dropped passes. After the game, he declined to speak with the media.
Nick Sirianni, Roseman was directly questioned about the possibility of trading the team”s top receiver. His response highlighted the difficulty of finding elite talent in the NFL, stating, “It”s hard to find great players in the NFL and A.J.”s a great player.” He emphasized that the organization is focused on acquiring players who are not only talented but also passionate about the game.
“When you”re trying to be a great team, it”s hard to trade great players, and A.J. Brown”s a great player,” Roseman elaborated. “He wears the “C” for a reason. He”s an important part of this team, of this organization. He cares about winning, he cares about his teammates, and I think that when you”re a team like ours that is looking forward to an opportunity to compete for a championship, you just don”t get rid of guys like that.”
Some analysts noted that Roseman”s comments seemed to avoid giving a definitive “yes” or “no” answer regarding a trade. In the 2025 season, Brown registered 1,003 receiving yards, marking the second-lowest total of his seven-year career, with eight games featuring less than 50 receiving yards.
Prior to the end of the season, Brown had a candid discussion with Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie, promising to reduce his public grievances on social media. A previous video where Brown described the situation in Philadelphia as “a s–tshow” gained significant attention online.
As the 2026 offseason begins, questions linger about Brown”s future with the Eagles and whether he will return for a fifth season. Roseman”s comments underscore the team”s commitment to retaining its key players as they aim for future success.
