In a recent interview, New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel addressed concerns regarding quarterback Drake Maye, who reportedly sustained an injury to his right shoulder during the team”s narrow 10-7 victory over the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship Game.
Vrabel”s comments on Boston sports radio station WEEI did little to ease the worries of Patriots fans. When asked about Maye”s health, he stated, “There”s not a player on our team that”s 100-percent healthy.” This statement has raised eyebrows, especially with the upcoming Super Bowl against the Seattle Seahawks on February 8.
According to ESPN”s Mike Reiss, Maye may have aggravated his shoulder when he fell after a 13-yard run during the third quarter of the playoff game. He also faced significant pressure throughout the match, taking five sacks. Despite these setbacks, Maye managed to rush for 65 yards and a touchdown, leading New England to a hard-fought win.
After the game, Maye acknowledged that he was dealing with “some bumps and bruises,” but he remained optimistic, noting that the extra week before the Super Bowl would allow him and his teammates time to recover. Vrabel emphasized that the challenges faced by Maye and the rest of the roster have accumulated over a long season, stating, “I would imagine we”ll go through the injury report, and whenever we have to turn that in, we”ll turn it in.” He added, “But nobody”s 100 percent. (It”ll) be our 21st game.”
As of Tuesday morning, sportsbooks had the Patriots listed as 4.5-point underdogs in the upcoming Super Bowl matchup.
