Eagles Offensive Coordinator Search Narrows as Top Candidates Decline Offers

The search for a new offensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles has taken another hit as Brian Daboll has opted to join the Tennessee Titans as their offensive coordinator, according to a report by Jordan Schultz of the Schultz Report. This decision further reduces the list of available candidates for the Eagles, who are still looking to replace Kevin Patullo, who was dismissed after a challenging year in the role.

Daboll, previously the offensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills and head coach of the New York Giants, has a notable history of success, particularly in his development of quarterback Josh Allen. Daboll”s collaboration with Jalen Hurts during his time at Alabama in 2017, where Hurts had a standout season, adds to the intrigue surrounding his potential fit with the Eagles.

Despite high hopes, both Daboll and former Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel were among the top candidates for the Eagles” offensive coordinator position. McDaniel has since taken a role with the Los Angeles Chargers. The Eagles” offensive coordinator search has become more challenging as several other candidates have also withdrawn from consideration or accepted different positions.

Among those who have declined offers are Declan Doyle, the offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears, and Charlie Weis Jr., who will remain with Louisiana State University. Others like Bobby Slowik and Klayton Adams have also chosen to stay with their current teams, further limiting the Eagles” options.

As of now, the Eagles are known to have interviewed or reached out to a range of candidates, including Packers quarterbacks coach Sean Mannion, Dolphins offensive coordinator Frank Smith, Texans quarterbacks coach Jerrod Johnson, former Bucs offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard, Colts offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter, and former Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy.

This ongoing search comes two weeks after the Eagles parted ways with Patullo, marking a significant transition for Hurts, who will now work with his seventh play caller in as many years. The Eagles are keen on finding a suitable candidate to lead their offense effectively moving forward.
