Harrison Mevis Shines as Rams Kicker in Standout Season

The Los Angeles Rams enjoyed a remarkable season, finishing just one victory away from the Super Bowl. Among the notable stories from this season was the emergence of kicker Harrison Mevis, who earned the nickname “The Thiccer Kicker” after a stellar performance.

Mevis missed only one field goal attempt throughout the entire season. After being released by the New York Jets prior to the start of the regular season, he remained dedicated and practiced each week as if he were preparing for game day. This commitment paid off, as he successfully converted 18 of 19 field-goal attempts, including in the playoffs, and was flawless on all 48 extra points.

Reflecting on his successful season, Mevis stated, “I think you kind of saw the results there. It works. It”s a lot like golf, and you keep it simple, and you”ll make kicks. Don”t overcomplicate it.” He also expressed his gratitude towards his teammates, highlighting the crucial roles played by punter and holder Ethan Evans, long snapper Jake McQuaide, and the protection unit that contributed to his success.

Before joining the Rams, Mevis had stints with the Carolina Panthers and the Birmingham Stallions in the UFL. As the season wrapped up, he mentioned that he had not yet contemplated his long-term future with the Rams or in the league. However, he assured fans that he would be “ready to make the next kick, whenever that comes,” just as he was when the Rams called upon him.

As the Rams look ahead, they are expected to make significant decisions regarding their roster and future, especially concerning the uncertainty surrounding quarterback Matthew Stafford. With the offseason approaching, the team is poised to address key areas for improvement.
