Bills Appoint Joe Brady as Head Coach, Opting Not to Wait for Kubiak

The Buffalo Bills made a significant decision in their coaching search by appointing Joe Brady as their new head coach. This announcement came on January 29 in Orchard Park, as the team opted not to wait for Klint Kubiak, the offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks, who was still involved in the Super Bowl playoffs.

General manager Brandon Beane expressed confidence in their choice, stating that after interviewing nine candidates, they recognized they had found “their guy.” Beane noted, “There were a lot of brilliant football minds that we were able to spend a good amount of time with.” Despite Kubiak”s rising profile, which attracted interest from teams like the Las Vegas Raiders and Arizona Cardinals, the Bills were not willing to postpone their decision.

Because the Bills could not initiate contact with Kubiak until after the Super Bowl due to NFL rules, Beane emphasized the importance of acting decisively. “I just thought once we got to this point, it would be just not smart to wait any longer,” he remarked. “We need our guy, as long as we find the right guy. Now listen, if we went through these nine , and we said we”re not gonna force it, but we had some very good options when we did this. Clearly, at the end, Joe was the man for the job.”

Brady, who previously served as the Bills” offensive play caller for 2.5 years, impressed the team with his vision for the future. Beane highlighted the qualities they sought in a head coach: “We wanted a highly intelligent, aggressive and excellent communicator. We wanted alignment. Joe Brady is all of that and more.”

Franchise quarterback Josh Allen, who participated in the search process, shared his perspective on Brady”s promotion. “Again, I didn”t make any decisions,” Allen said. “I just allowed them to maybe ask questions into a player”s lens that maybe they wouldn”t have had if I wasn”t there.” He emphasized that Brady earned the position based on his qualifications, not merely on their past relationship. “I had an opportunity to talk to Josh the other day, and he let me know, he”s like, I didn”t help you get this job, you got this job. And that meant so much to me,” Brady conveyed.

The Bills” decision to hire Brady marks a new chapter in their pursuit of success, as they look to build on their recent performances under his leadership.
