The Seattle Seahawks provided an encouraging injury update as they prepare for Super Bowl 60. Quarterback Sam Darnold participated fully in practice on Thursday, a significant step forward in his recovery from an oblique injury.
Darnold sustained the injury just before the NFC Divisional Round clash against the San Francisco 49ers, which raised questions about his availability. However, he managed to play through the pain in a decisive victory. His limited practice during the NFC Championship Game did not hinder his performance against the Los Angeles Rams, where he excelled. Thursday marked Darnold”s first full participation since January 14, signaling positive progress in his recovery process.
In contrast, rookie defensive back Nick Emmanwori was unable to practice on Thursday, raising concerns about his status for the upcoming game. Coach Mike Macdonald addressed these concerns during a press conference, emphasizing a cautious approach to Emmanwori”s practice regimen. “He”ll be ready to go regardless,” Macdonald stated. “Let”s do the smartest thing for us and him every day, and make sure we”re ready to go. We”ll evaluate it tomorrow and see how much he can do.”
Additionally, offensive tackle Charles Cross was limited due to a foot injury, but this is likely a case of managing his condition rather than a severe issue. Fullback Robbie Ouzts remains limited with a neck injury, a more pressing concern as he has not been available for media over the last two days.
On a positive note, all other players on the team were full participants in practice, contributing to an overall optimistic outlook as the Seahawks gear up for their Super Bowl matchup.
