Daevin Hobbs addressed reporters during a media session on Wednesday, following a tough defeat for the Tennessee Volunteers against the Oklahoma Sooners last Saturday. This loss has effectively removed the Volunteers from playoff contention. The team is currently on a bye week, utilizing this time to prepare for their final three regular-season games.
Despite the recent setback, the Volunteers have already secured bowl eligibility, and their next match will be at home against New Mexico State next Saturday. After that, they will travel to face Florida before concluding the regular season at home against in-state rival Vanderbilt.
During his media availability, Hobbs reflected on the team”s performance, stating, “I mean, we came out I mean, we played good for the most part. I feel like we played really good that game as a defense. I mean, that”s the whole team too, but as a defense mainly I feel like we locked in that week during practice made everything on point. Then we went out there, we played a solid game.”
Hobbs has faced some injury challenges this season, but when healthy, his impact on the field is unmistakable. The defensive lineman from North Carolina plays a crucial role in the Volunteers” defensive lineup, and with the season winding down, his contributions will be essential in the upcoming games.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining focus and commitment, saying, “I mean, there really isn”t any like psyching yourself up for, I mean, we came here to play football. I mean, we come here, we work on our game. So, every practice is another opportunity to get better, every lift is another opportunity to get better. So, I mean if you have that mindset, which everybody should throughout the whole year, regardless of how the season”s going. You just keep thinking like that, you better yourself and then you”re bettering yourself, the better the team will be.”
