Trade discussions surrounding wide receiver A.J. Brown are heating up as the offseason progresses. According to ESPN”s Jeremy Fowler, there is a growing expectation that the Philadelphia Eagles will be open to trade offers for Brown, with potential interest from the Pittsburgh Steelers, Buffalo Bills, and New England Patriots.
Brown has expressed dissatisfaction with his role in the Eagles” offense over the past few years, leading to speculation that a trade could be on the horizon. Fowler noted, “Some executives I”ve talked to around the league expect that the Eagles will at least entertain a trade for A.J. Brown, who is unhappy on numerous fronts.”
However, trading Brown presents significant challenges for Philadelphia. The Eagles would face substantial dead money implications and would need to allocate resources to find a suitable replacement for the talented receiver. If the Eagles decide to move forward with a trade, the Steelers, Bills, and Patriots are likely candidates.
The Steelers are in search of a reliable No. 2 wide receiver, as the team has struggled to bolster its depth at the position. Adding Brown could provide a significant boost to their passing game alongside DK Metcalf.
Meanwhile, the Bills are looking to recover from failed attempts to acquire top receiving talent, including Keon Coleman and Joshua Palmer. With limited options behind Khalil Shakir and Dalton Kincaid, Buffalo could benefit from adding a proven playmaker like Brown.
The Patriots, who came close to a Super Bowl appearance recently, are also in need of offensive weapons for rookie quarterback Drake Maye. Outside of Stefon Diggs and Hunter Henry, the receiving corps lacks established talent.
If forced to choose a frontrunner for a potential trade, the Patriots may have the edge. Brown”s prior relationship with head coach Mike Vrabel from their time with the Titans could play a role in his decision, and New England has the necessary cap space and draft capital to facilitate a deal.
In contrast, the Steelers may be slightly favored over the Bills due to their stronger cap situation and draft resources.
As the offseason unfolds, the trade market for A.J. Brown is certainly one to watch, with several teams poised to make a move.
