Okoboji High School standout Avery Simington has officially committed to play football at Dordt University. This announcement came on January 28, following a record-breaking season with the Pioneers last fall.
Reflecting on his journey, Simington admitted that he was uncertain about pursuing college football during his junior year. “I was definitely on the fence about playing in college when I was a junior,” he stated. “It”s a tough task. But going through my senior year, I realized how much I loved the game.”
Simington”s decision to join Dordt University marks a significant step in his athletic career, as he aims to build on his impressive high school performance at the college level. His dedication and skills showcased during his senior season played a crucial role in his recruitment.
Dordt University, located in Sioux Center, Iowa, has been building a competitive football program, and Simington will look to contribute to that growth. He is eager to embrace this new chapter and compete at the collegiate level.
As Simington transitions to this next phase, he carries with him the hope that his record-setting achievements will serve as a strong foundation for his future endeavors on the field.
