The Boston College football program has officially extended an offer to Will Wood, a quarterback from Xaverian Brothers High School in Westwood, Massachusetts. This announcement came on a recent Monday when Wood shared the news via social media.
Wood, a three-star recruit in the class of 2027, has garnered attention from numerous colleges, receiving a total of 19 Division-I offers, five of which are from Power-Five conferences. His local ties to Boston College make it a particularly appealing option. Other schools vying for his talents include Wake Forest, Stanford, Syracuse, and North Carolina.
During his junior year, Wood showcased his impressive abilities by passing for over 2,800 yards and achieving 42 touchdowns against just one interception. His performance was instrumental in leading the Hawks to their third consecutive Division-1 state title.
As the summer approaches, the list of schools interested in Wood may grow, especially with prominent programs like Penn State also in the mix, according to Steve Wiltfong of Rivals. Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 220 pounds, Wood has experienced significant growth and development over the past year, having previously been just over six feet tall and weighing 195 pounds.
This transformation can be attributed to his dedicated offseason training, including sessions at M2 QB Academy. His hard work has not only benefited him but also fellow recruits, such as five-star quarterback Chris Vargas from St. John”s Prep and Peter Bourque from Tabor Academy, who recently reopened his recruitment after previously committing to Michigan.
While Boston College may have missed out on Bourque due to his newfound status as a coveted recruit, Wood should be a priority for head coach Bill O”Brien as he looks to strengthen the team”s quarterback position. Currently, the Eagles have yet to secure any quarterback commitments in their 2027 class, which has six members and is ranked 22nd nationally according to 247 Sports.
With a growing local fanbase, O”Brien and first-year general manager Kenyatta Watson have a prime opportunity to enhance team morale by pursuing Wood aggressively. His rising popularity in the recruiting landscape makes it clear that he is a player to watch in the coming months.
