Chargers Announce New Coaching Staff Additions and Retentions

The Los Angeles Chargers have made significant moves in shaping their coaching staff, announcing the hiring of eight new coaches. This wave of appointments follows the earlier announcements of Mike McDaniel as the offensive coordinator and Chris O”Leary as the defensive coordinator.

Among the new hires are:

  • Butch Barry – Offensive Line Coach, previously served as the offensive line coach for the Miami Dolphins.
  • Chandler Henley – Tight Ends Coach, formerly a run game specialist with the Dolphins.
  • Max McCaffrey – Running Backs Coach, who was an offensive assistant with the Dolphins.
  • Adam Gase – Passing Game Specialist, formerly the head coach of the New York Jets.
  • Julian Campenni – Assistant Defensive Line Coach, previously coached outside linebackers at Rutgers.
  • Rob Everett – Offensive Assistant, who also worked as an offensive assistant with the Dolphins.
  • Denzel Martin – Assistant Outside Linebackers Coach, who was a linebackers coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
  • Sean Spence – Linebackers Coach, formerly held the position of edge/linebacker coach at Western Michigan.

In addition to these new appointments, the Chargers have decided to retain Sanjay Lal as the wide receivers coach and Shane Day as the quarterbacks coach, as reported by ESPN”s Jeremy Fowler.

This restructuring of the coaching staff marks a significant step for the Chargers as they look to improve their performance in the upcoming season.
