The Los Angeles Rams are preparing for various strategies in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft, with particular emphasis on improving their offensive line. Despite opting out of attending the NFL Scouting Combine, a trend they”ve followed for several years, the Rams are diligently scouting the available talent for the draft.
Holding two first-round picks is a rare opportunity for a team that has enjoyed considerable success over the years. The Rams have established themselves as one of the league”s top drafting teams, consistently transforming their selections into starting players. With an aging offensive line, bolstering this unit is critical, especially to ensure adequate protection for veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford.
The Rams are keen on enhancing their offensive line”s ability to protect the quarterback and create running lanes. According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, the top tackle prospects this year primarily play the right side, prompting interest in players like Spencer Fano from Utah and Francis Mauigoa from Miami.
Breer notes that while both players are tackles, they represent different styles. Draft expert Toddy McShay described Mauigoa as a “massive right tackle” at 6″6″ and 325 pounds, suggesting he is well-suited for the position. In contrast, Fano, who stands at 6″5″ and weighs 300 pounds, is noted for his athleticism and balance but lacks the overpowering size of Mauigoa.
Fano has spent his career at right tackle due to the presence of Caleb Lomu, who has played left tackle and possesses similar athletic traits. The Rams” scouting efforts will be crucial as they look to enhance their offensive line depth in the draft.
