Giants Part Ways with Offensive Tackle James Hudson After One Season

The New York Giants announced the release of offensive tackle James Hudson on Friday. This decision has opened up $5.4 million in salary cap space, although the Giants will incur $2.3 million in dead money as a result.

Hudson had signed a two-year, $12 million contract during the 2025 offseason, which included $6.01 million in guaranteed money. The 27-year-old, who will celebrate his birthday in May, participated in 11 games during his single season with the Giants, making two starts.

Throughout the season, he was involved in 85 offensive plays and contributed 44 snaps on special teams. However, his time on the field was marred by discipline issues, as he recorded five penalties, four of which occurred during a start against the Cowboys before he was benched.

Hudson entered the league as a fourth-round draft pick of the Cleveland Browns in 2021, where he spent his first four years. During his tenure with the Browns, he played in 49 games and earned 17 starts.

The Giants” move to release Hudson reflects a strategy to reshape their roster as they look ahead to the coming seasons.
