However, there remain critical gaps that need addressing, particularly on the offensive line. The departure of Isaac Seumalo to the Arizona Cardinals during free agency has left the Steelers in search of a new left guard. Consequently, Brendan Donahue from Sharp Football Analysis has predicted that the Steelers will target Vega Ioane, an offensive lineman from the Penn State Nittany Lions, in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
Donahue stated, “After losing starting left guard Isaac Seumalo in free agency, the Steelers can take the consensus best guard in the draft.” He further noted the uncertainty surrounding Pittsburgh”s quarterback situation, suggesting that bolstering the interior offensive line should be a draft priority, especially if the team looks to bring in a veteran like 42-year-old Aaron Rodgers.
Vega Ioane has made a significant impact at Penn State over the last three seasons, entering the 2026 draft as the top guard available. As the draft approaches, he is expected to be on the board when the Steelers make their selection. If the front office does not secure additional help through free agency, Ioane could very well become their top choice in the first round.
As the Steelers aim to fill their roster gaps and strengthen their offensive line, the upcoming draft will be crucial in shaping their future, especially with potential changes at the quarterback position.
