Seahawks Eye Brian Robinson Jr. as Kenneth Walker Replacement

The Seattle Seahawks are reportedly considering a familiar face from the NFC West to fill the void left by Kenneth Walker III. Just a month after Walker was honored as the MVP of Super Bowl 60, leading the Seahawks to a championship with a decisive victory over the New England Patriots, he has signed a lucrative contract with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Walker”s departure has left the Seahawks in search of a capable running back, especially as they face the prospect of starting the 2026 season without projected starter Zach Charbonnet, who is recovering from an ACL tear sustained during the playoffs against Robinson”s San Francisco 49ers.

ESPN”s Bill Barnwell has suggested that Brian Robinson Jr., currently with the 49ers, could be an ideal candidate to step into the Seahawks” backfield. Barnwell highlighted that Robinson would not only help replace Walker”s impressive production but would also provide much-needed depth while Charbonnet heals. “The Seahawks require a running back who can handle a significant workload, given Charbonnet”s uncertain status for the season opener,” Barnwell noted.

Recently, the Seahawks added Emmanuel Wilson with a one-year contract, but Robinson”s track record suggests he could deliver a more consistent performance as the lead back during Charbonnet”s recovery period.

With Charbonnet”s injury, the Seahawks currently have Wilson, along with practice squad players George Holani and Kenny McIntosh, expected to share ball-carrying duties. This situation has left the door open for the Seahawks to pursue a starting-caliber running back.

Robinson, who moved from the Washington Commanders to the 49ers prior to last season, demonstrated his worth in 2025 as he contributed significantly despite being the secondary option behind the dual-threat star Christian McCaffrey. Over the course of 17 games, Robinson rushed 92 times for 400 yards and secured two touchdowns.

As the Seahawks look to bolster their roster, Robinson”s experience and ability to perform under pressure could make him a valuable asset as they aim to maintain their championship aspirations.
