Chiefs Eyeing Cameron Jordan as Potential Free Agent Signing

In a recent report by Nate Taylor, the Kansas City Chiefs have emerged as a potential destination for defensive end Cameron Jordan, who is currently a free agent after his contract with the New Orleans Saints expired. Taylor highlighted that Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones has been actively advocating for the team”s front office to consider signing Jordan.

Jordan, who has spent his entire career with the Saints, has gone unsigned for a few weeks following the end of his contract. He expressed that while he has a deep appreciation for New Orleans, he recognizes the realities of the business side of football. “As much as I love the city of New Orleans, as much as I want to be in the city of New Orleans… If things don”t add up to what I consider as value happen, I understand the business nature of it all,” Jordan stated during an appearance on “The Set with T.Stead” podcast.

He further elaborated, “In my mind, I”m like, “of course,” you see guys my age re-sign with a team because that”s the only team they”ve ever been with, and you”re like, “hell yeah, we love that,” but that”s to his situation. That may not be to my situation. As football players, we can only control what we can control. … You gotta be able to take your emotions out of it. Of course, I”d love to be in New Orleans, but at the same time, if the cents doesn”t make sense, then we have to find our own path.”

Jordan, 36, was a first-round draft pick by the Saints in 2011, coming out of the University of California. He had been in the fifth year of a six-year contract valued at nearly $62 million, which included over $33 million guaranteed, signed back in 2015. He received a three-year extension worth $52.5 million in 2019, followed by another two-year extension worth approximately $28 million that would take him through the 2025 season.

In the 2025 season, Jordan played all 17 games and recorded 47 tackles, including 15 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks, along with two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and two pass defenses. His impressive performance has earned him a spot on the Top 100 Available NFL Free Agents list.
