Veteran quarterback Joe Flacco is not ready to hang up his cleats just yet. On Tuesday, Flacco re-signed with the Cincinnati Bengals on a one-year contract, extending his career into another season at the age of 41.
Flacco”s new deal is reported to be worth $6 million, with an additional $3 million available through incentives, according to NFL Network”s Ian Rapoport. This signing marks a significant moment for Flacco, who enjoyed a Pro Bowl season split between the Cleveland Browns and the Bengals, after being traded mid-season.
The veteran quarterback began the 2025 season as the starter for the Browns but was benched by head coach Kevin Stefanski after just four games in favor of rookie Dillon Gabriel. Following his time in Cleveland, Flacco found himself traded to Cincinnati, where he stepped in as the starting quarterback when Joe Burrow was sidelined by injury.
During his tenure with the Bengals, Flacco started six games, finishing with a record of 1-5. Notably, he threw for 470 yards in a high-scoring loss to the Chicago Bears on November 2. His performance earned him a spot on the AFC Pro Bowl roster, a significant achievement as it marked his first-ever invitation to the Pro Bowl.
Despite hopes for a starting role, many positions were filled during free agency, with quarterbacks like Tua Tagovailoa and Kyler Murray securing new homes. Now, Flacco returns to Cincinnati to serve as Burrow”s backup, likely in what could be his final season in the NFL.
