Roseville Panthers Overwhelm Grosse Pointe South in Conference Clash

The Roseville Panthers delivered a commanding performance against Grosse Pointe South, winning 79-49 in a Macomb Area Conference Red Division matchup on Wednesday night. The Panthers initially trailed 15-11 after the first quarter but quickly turned the game around, dominating the Blue Devils and moving into a four-way tie for first place in the division.

After falling behind in the opening period, Roseville outscored Grosse Pointe South 22-13 in the second quarter, taking a 33-28 lead at halftime. They continued to build momentum in the second half, going on a 17-10 run in the third quarter to extend their lead to 50-38. The Panthers capped off their impressive performance with a 29-11 run in the final quarter, finishing the game with a 30-point margin.

Sophomore Carter George was a standout for Roseville, contributing significantly with 10 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, seven blocks, and three steals. Junior guard Terrell Owens led the scoring for the Panthers with 22 points, along with four steals, three rebounds, and three assists. Senior guard Timothy Dawson added 12 points and four boards, while freshman Charles Stewart and junior Prince El each contributed nine points. El also recorded six assists, five rebounds, and five steals, showcasing his all-around game.

Roseville now stands at 12-3 overall and 4-2 in the conference, sharing the top spot in the standings with Clinton Township Chippewa Valley, Macomb Dakota, and Port Huron Northern, all of whom have four league games remaining.

For Grosse Pointe South, Jamison Spratt and Kooper Richards each scored 12 and 10 points, respectively, as the Blue Devils fell to 7-8 overall and 2-4 in the league, dropping them to fifth place in the division.

In another game, Austin Catholic triumphed over Detroit Cristo Rey with a commanding score of 50-17. Despite having a relatively young roster, the Crusaders displayed remarkable maturity on the court. Sophomore Joe Meteer led the team with 18 points, while freshman Sam Bodus added 17 points. Austin Catholic will be back in action on Monday against Kimball Landmark Academy.

In the MAC White Division, L”Anse Creuse North defeated Sterling Heights Stevenson 52-43, with senior Julius Wilson scoring 33 points to spearhead the victory. The competitive landscape of the conference continues to evolve as teams vie for playoff positioning.
