Buffalo Bills defensive line coach Marcus West has been released from the hospital after facing an unspecified medical issue that arose following the team”s defeat against the Miami Dolphins.
Head coach Sean McDermott shared the news on Monday, providing an update on West”s condition. While he refrained from disclosing specific details about the incident that occurred after the Bills lost 30-13 to the Dolphins, McDermott expressed relief that West is now in a better state of health.
“He”s in a good spot, and I”m glad to hear that,” McDermott stated, confirming that although West has been discharged, he remains in South Florida for the time being.
Defensive coordinator Bobby Babich also conveyed positive sentiments about West, noting that he spoke with him over the phone and found him to be in good spirits.
At 41 years old, West is currently in his fourth season with the Bills, having joined the team after a successful 14-year coaching career at the college level. Prior to his role in Buffalo, he served as the assistant head coach and co-defensive coordinator at Charlotte from 2019 to 2021. West was a defensive lineman during his college years at Memphis and briefly played on the practice squad of the Indianapolis Colts in 2006. He also saw game action with the CFL“s Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2007.
