Pennsylvania native Brennan Marion is making a significant career move by accepting the role of offensive coordinator under Deion Sanders at the University of Colorado. This transition comes after Marion completed a successful season as the head coach of Sacramento State, where he led the Hornets to a 7-5 record.
During his tenure at Sacramento State, Marion”s offensive strategy proved effective, with the team averaging 33.7 points per game. Before taking the helm at Sacramento State, he served as the offensive coordinator at UNLV for two years, showcasing his ability to adapt and innovate within different programs.
At just 38 years old, Marion has quickly risen through the ranks of college football coaching. He is recognized for developing the “Go-Go Offense,” a system that emphasizes speed and efficiency. His coaching journey has taken him from Pitt, where he contributed to an ACC Championship by developing standout receiver Jordan Addison, to Texas, where he served as the wide receivers coach and helped foster the talents of Xavier Worthy.
Marion”s roots trace back to Steel Valley in Homestead, Pennsylvania, before he made a name for himself at Greensburg-Salem High School, where he excelled in multiple sports. Following high school, he played at the University of Tulsa, where he had a standout season in 2007, earning the C-USA Newcomer of the Year title.
Unfortunately, injuries hampered his professional aspirations, leading him to pivot towards coaching. He began his coaching career at the high school level in California and later returned to Pennsylvania to lead Waynesboro Area High School to its first winning season in over two decades while developing the Go-Go offense.
After a brief period at Waynesboro, Marion took a position at Arizona State before serving as the running backs coach at Oklahoma Baptist University. His journey included offensive coordinator roles at Howard University and William and Mary, and he eventually made his way to the University of Hawaii as the wide receivers coach.
With this new chapter at Colorado, Marion will look to bring his innovative offensive strategies to a program under the leadership of Deion Sanders, who has made headlines for his dynamic approach to recruiting and coaching.
