Buccaneers Announce Zac Robinson as New Offensive Coordinator

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have made a significant move by hiring Zac Robinson as their new offensive coordinator, according to a source who spoke to The Associated Press on Thursday. The individual, who requested anonymity, confirmed that the hiring is in the final stages.

Robinson previously served as the offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons over the past two seasons. Before that, he was the quarterbacks coach and pass game coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams, where he worked with quarterback Baker Mayfield, who started four games during the 2022 season.

This marks the fifth offensive coordinator for Tampa Bay in as many years. Following the 2022 season, the team terminated Byron Leftwich. Dave Canales stepped in to help Mayfield revitalize his career during the 2023 season but subsequently accepted the head coaching position with the Carolina Panthers. In 2024, Mayfield experienced his most successful season under Liam Coen, who later departed to take over as head coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

In 2025, the Buccaneers” offense faced challenges under Josh Grizzard, leading to a disappointing 8-9 finish. After just one season, Grizzard was let go. The team”s offensive performance saw a dramatic decline, falling from third overall in total yards in 2024 to 21st in 2025. Tampa Bay had ranked among the top five in rushing, passing, and scoring in 2024 but dropped to 21st in rushing, 20th in passing, and 18th in scoring the following year.

Under Robinson”s leadership in Atlanta, his offenses ranked sixth in total yards in 2024 and slipped to 14th in the following season. Scoring-wise, they finished 13th in 2024 before falling to 24th the next year. During his tenure, he managed quarterbacks Michael Penix Jr. and veteran Kirk Cousins.
