Cardinals Interview Texans” Dino Vasso for Defensive Coordinator Position

The Arizona Cardinals have requested an interview with Dino Vasso, the secondary coach for the Houston Texans, for their defensive coordinator vacancy. This move follows the hiring of Mike LaFleur as the new head coach, who has also appointed Nathaniel Hackett as the offensive coordinator.

At 38 years old, Vasso has played a pivotal role in developing a formidable defense for the Texans, coaching standout players such as All-Pro cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. and Pro Bowl cornerback Kamari Lassiter. Under his guidance, the Texans” defense achieved remarkable statistics this season, ranking second in points allowed and first in fewest yards given up, averaging 277.2 yards per game.

Vasso”s coaching career includes mentorship from prominent figures in the league, including Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans, defensive coordinator Matt Burke, and Jim Schwartz, who is currently the defensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns. Before his current position, Vasso served as the assistant defensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2020 and has also worked with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Cardinals are actively seeking a strong candidate to fill their defensive coordinator role as they look to rebuild and enhance their defensive strategy following a challenging season.
