The Miami Dolphins have made a notable addition to their coaching team, bringing in C.J. Conrad from Kent State University as an offensive assistant. This announcement comes despite the team having already revealed its 2026 coaching staff.
According to a report from CBS Sports” Matt Zenitz, Conrad, a former tight end at Kentucky, will join the Dolphins after spending the last two seasons as the tight ends coach and special teams coordinator at Kent State. While he was on the practice squad of the New York Giants for two seasons, he did not see any action in an NFL game before embarking on his coaching career. His brother, Austin, also played as a tight end at Ohio University.
Conrad is the second offensive assistant hired by new head coach Jeff Hafley, joining Leander Wallace, who previously worked as an offensive quality control coach for the Houston Texans. While there are no known connections between Conrad and Hafley or other members of the Dolphins coaching staff, his addition reflects the team”s continued effort to strengthen its coaching ranks.
In addition to the Dolphins” coaching changes, there has been movement among former Dolphins players in the collegiate coaching landscape. Recently, Randy Starks was appointed as the defensive line coach at the University of Maryland, where he had previously played before his successful 12-year NFL career, including seven seasons with the Dolphins from 2008-2014.
Starks, who earned Pro Bowl honors during his tenure in Miami, had initially been hired as the assistant defensive line coach at the University of South Florida. There, he was set to work under former Dolphins wide receiver Brian Hartline, who took over as head coach in December after serving as offensive coordinator at Ohio State.
Starks led Eureka College in Illinois for the past two seasons, but his teams managed only two wins against 18 losses. Following his departure, former Dolphins third overall pick Dion Jordan has been promoted from assistant head coach to take over as head coach at Eureka.
Here is the updated coaching staff for the Miami Dolphins for the 2026 season:
- Head Coach: Jeff Hafley
Details on the entire coaching staff will continue to emerge as the Dolphins prepare for the upcoming season.
