Eagles” Nick Sirianni Confirms Kevin Patullo as Play Caller After Mini Bye

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni announced on Monday that Kevin Patullo will continue to serve as the team”s play caller after their recent mini bye week. This decision comes in the wake of two disappointing losses that have left the Eagles reevaluating their offensive strategy.

The Eagles” offense has faced significant challenges during the 2025 season, particularly in the four games following their bye week. The team has struggled to find the end zone, averaging just 15.5 points over this stretch and suffering back-to-back losses, first to the Dallas Cowboys by a score of 24-21 and then to the Chicago Bears at 24-15 on Black Friday.

“Everything was being evaluated,” Sirianni stated, emphasizing the need for a thorough self-assessment over the weekend. “We want to get this thing fixed more than anybody. We live it, breathe it, involved in it every waking second of our lives. So that”s what we”re working on right now.”

Despite the recent struggles, Sirianni confirmed his support for Patullo, stating that he would remain the offensive coordinator and play caller. However, he acknowledged the importance of not disclosing specific details regarding any potential changes within the coaching staff. The Eagles previously allowed former defensive coordinator Sean Desai to address the media even after his demotion, illustrating the complexities involved in such decisions.

This marks Sirianni”s fifth season as head coach, during which he has made notable changes in his coaching staff. In 2023, he shifted from Desai to Matt Patricia as defensive coordinator and previously handed over offensive play-calling duties to Shane Steichen in 2021. “I do believe that both of them are different scenarios,” Sirianni explained, referring to the dynamics of each situation. “It”s the ultimate team game. We are working through everything. I have a lot of faith in all the players, I have a lot of faith in all the coaches.”

Before this season, Patullo had spent four years as the Eagles” passing game coordinator and was promoted to his current role after Kellen Moore departed for the head coaching position with the New Orleans Saints. Despite having the highest offensive payroll in the NFL, the Eagles currently rank 19th in points scored and 24th in total yards.

If the Eagles decide to make a change at play caller in the future, they have several internal candidates, including Sirianni himself, quarterbacks coach Scott Loeffler, and passing game coordinator Parks Frazier.

As the team prepares for their next game against the Los Angeles Chargers, the pressure is on to address the offensive inefficiencies that have become increasingly evident, particularly in critical situations like third-down conversions.
