INDIANAPOLIS – The Atlanta Falcons are set to conduct their pre-draft workouts at the annual NFL Combine this week. Activities including player interviews and workouts will commence on Monday and continue throughout the week at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Among the highlights of the early week schedule will be the opportunity to hear from both general manager Ian Cunningham and head coach Kevin Stefanski. This marks their first media availability since they were introduced at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Cunningham will take the podium at 10:00 AM, followed by Stefanski at 2:15 PM on Tuesday.
During their press conferences, both leaders are anticipated to answer numerous questions regarding the current state of their organization. Significant topics are expected to include their confidence in quarterback Michael Penix Jr., decisions surrounding Kyle Pitts Sr., and their strategy for draft evaluations in their inaugural year. Additionally, they will address the challenge of limited draft capital heading into the upcoming NFL Draft.
Cunningham expressed, “I love picks, man, so you use those as currency. Either you can use it as trading up, or you can trade for players, proven players. It allows you more swings at the plate. So, there are different ways you can use them. But that”s why we value them. That”s why we will value them. We only have five right now, but we only had five in Chicago my first year there, too, and I think we ended up with 10. We love those picks, and we”re going to definitely build through the draft that way.”
Draft meetings commenced the Monday after Cunningham”s introduction on February 3. Tuesday will provide media the first chance to gather more insights from the new general manager.
As teams prepare for player interviews starting Monday, on-field workouts are scheduled to begin on Thursday. Place kickers, defensive linemen, and linebackers are already in Indianapolis to lead the initial sessions. Following them will be defensive backs and tight ends, with running backs, quarterbacks, and wide receivers to follow. The week will conclude with the offensive linemen.
