Joe Brady, the head coach of the Buffalo Bills, has expressed that his main focus lies on the success of quarterback Josh Allen rather than his personal achievements. In a recent interview, Brady shared insights into the important relationship he has developed with Allen and how it has influenced his coaching career.
During his conversation on SiriusXM”s NFL Radio, Brady characterized Allen as pivotal to his journey and acknowledged that their partnership has faced challenges. He noted that coaching Allen has significantly contributed to his growth as a coach and credited the quarterback for transforming potentially poor decisions into successful plays.
“He”s been just as critical for me. I”ve grown so much as a coach by coaching him, and our relationship is continuing to grow. It”s not always perfect. We have tough conversations and get on each other,” Brady stated. “But it”s a relationship that understands that we both have each other”s trust and respect. He knows I care about his success more than my own. He wants to be coached hard, and he knows that he makes a lot of my bad play calls work.”
Brady recognized instances where Allen”s instincts have taken precedence over the designed plays, leading to favorable outcomes. This understanding has shaped how Brady assesses his own performance as head coach. “I”m understanding of that, too. Once in a while, there will be a play-call that I wish he would just make the easy completion. I try to get mad and then I realize it was a bad play-call, and he bailed me out, too,” he explained.
Brady”s remarks clearly position Allen at the center of his leadership approach as the Bills embark on a new chapter with Brady at the helm. “I love that man. I”m only in this role because I had an opportunity to coach him, and I understand that. I don”t take that lightly. But I want him to get everything that he deserves as a player,” Brady concluded.
