John Harbaugh, the head coach of the New York Giants, recently took out a full-page advertisement in the Baltimore Sun to express his heartfelt gratitude to the Baltimore Ravens fans. This gesture comes after nearly two decades with the Ravens, during which he built a significant legacy.
Following his departure from the Ravens, Harbaugh signed a five-year contract with the Giants. In his message, he reflected on the deep connections formed during his time in Baltimore. “When Ingrid, Allison and I arrived in Baltimore, we knew that we were joining a football organization,” he stated. “What we couldn”t have fully known then was that we were becoming part of a city, a culture, and a community that is bonded together by a shared sense of strength and unity.”
Harbaugh emphasized the uniqueness of Ravens football and the passionate support of the fans. “From the first time I walked onto the field at The Bank, it was clear this place was different. Ravens football is different… the standard is high, the values are second to none, and the meaning of it all transcends the white lines,” he noted. He acknowledged the unwavering support from the community, which he believes made the team and franchise thrive.
In his ad, Harbaugh also extended thanks to owner Steve Bisciotti, his coaching staff, and the players. He had a special message for the fans, saying, “Most of all, to the people of Baltimore: Thank you for embracing my family and for allowing us to grow alongside you.” He highlighted the city”s resilience and authenticity, noting how the pride in the team reflects the pride among its citizens.
“Football can be about wins and losses, but what lasts are the relationships, the shared moments, and the bond between a team and its city. Those memories will echo forever,” he added. After parting ways with the Ravens, Harbaugh interviewed with several teams before choosing to coach the Giants. At 63 years old, he looks forward to working under owner John Mara and developing the Giants” roster, including quarterback Jaxson Dart. His contract is reportedly valued at nearly $100 million.
During his tenure with the Ravens, Harbaugh led the team to a commendable 180-113 record, making 12 playoff appearances and securing a victory in Super Bowl XLVII against the San Francisco 49ers. Although the Ravens did not reach the Super Bowl in any other seasons under his leadership, they did appear in three additional AFC Championship games.
