Kashif Moore Named New Receivers Coach at Penn State

Penn State has appointed Kashif Moore as its new wide receivers coach, marking another addition to Matt Campbell“s coaching staff. Moore”s hiring follows a short tenure at Colorado State, where he spent less than two months before moving to Penn State.

Moore takes over the receivers position from Noah Pauley, who transitioned to the Green Bay Packers after initially joining Campbell from Iowa State. Moore”s path mirrors Pauley”s, having moved with head coach Jim Mora from UConn to Colorado State before landing at Penn State.

During his playing career at UConn, Moore was a standout receiver, logging 126 receptions for 1,699 yards and serving as team captain. He participated in three bowl games, including the 2011 Fiesta Bowl against Oklahoma. In 2023, he returned to UConn as the receivers coach, where he developed Skyler Bell. Under Moore”s guidance, Bell emerged as one of UConn”s all-time great receivers, achieving consensus All-American status and becoming a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award after a remarkable season.

Over the past two seasons, Bell accumulated 151 receptions for 2,138 yards, including a standout year with 101 catches and 1,278 yards. His performance also earned him an invitation to the upcoming NFL Scouting Combine. Following his success at UConn, Moore joined Mora”s staff at Colorado State, but his stay there was brief as Campbell sought to fortify Penn State”s receiving corps.

Prior to his time at UConn, Moore served as the receivers coach at Cornell. He was brought onto the staff by Greg Gattuso, who previously coached at Albany. Gattuso has since returned to Penn State as a defensive line consultant. In a statement from 2022, Gattuso expressed excitement about Moore”s hiring, emphasizing his competitive nature and potential to elevate the receivers group.

After completing his playing career, Moore was invited to the 2012 NFL Scouting Combine and signed with several teams, including Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Houston, Pittsburgh, and Kansas City, though he did not record any catches in the NFL. Hailing from Burlington, N.J., he was recognized as an all-South Jersey player in high school.

With the wide receivers position at Penn State showing signs of inconsistency over the years, Campbell now faces the challenge of revitalizing the group. Moore, at 37 years old, is set to lead a unit that features six new players, three of whom followed Campbell and Pauley from Iowa State. Campbell has expressed confidence in reshaping the receivers group, hoping to replicate the success they had at Iowa State.
